Hyderabad: CII Telangana organised the Defence & Space Conclave with the theme ‘Exploring Newer Capabilities for National Security’ on Wednesday in city to focus on critical discussions aimed at strengthening national security through advancements in the defence and space sectors.

Sai D Prasad, Chairman, CII Telangana & Executive Director, Bharat Biotech International Limited, in his Welcome Address highlighted about the India's growing defence and aerospace sectors. He stated, “The private sector is increasingly participating in the design and manufacturing of space-based systems for defence needs, enhancing both operational capabilities and the economy.”

Vamsi Vikas, Co-Convenor, CII Telangana Defence & Aerospace Panel and Managing Director, Raghu Vamsi Machine Tools P Ltd, emphasied on the promising growth across industries. “India is one of the strongest military forces globally, with a defence budget of $74.7 billion for 2024,” He praised the significant strides in innovation, especially the support for MSMEs and startups. “Telangana is a hub for startups, defence production, and research, bridging technology gaps,” he added.

Major General Harsh Chhibber, VSM, Commandant, College of Defence Management, provided an in-depth analysis of the current geopolitical landscape, emphasising the role of self-reliance in defence. “National security is a collective responsibility. The emerging anarchy in global affairs demands India re-evaluate its security strategies,” he said.

“We will possibly become the first state to support companies to improve their technology," Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary Department of Industries & Commerce, ITE&C Government of Telangana said. He also stressed the importance of infrastructure, talent, and innovation, adding that Telangana aims to foster a robust ecosystem with private sector collaboration.

The event highlighted the key topics included enhancing defence capabilities, fostering innovations and startups for national security, and shaping the future of Indian manufacturing services to meet global aerospace and defence demands.
